Inspection & Assessment of Damage

  • The Flood Help technician will evaluate the damage sustained to your property.
  • If required assist with finding the water source & help stop the flow.
  • They will classify the water damage according to IICRC standards.
  • Class 1 - “Clean Water” poses no substantial harm to people.
  • Class 2 - “Grey Water” Potentially carrying a significant degree of either chemical or biological contamination & likely to cause illness in humans.
  • Class 3 - “Black water” Grossly unsanitary or contaminated.
  • Assist move any items of personal property or furniture at risk of damage from water exposure.

Extraction or the removal of water

  • The technician will begin removing the majority of the water from the property using specialist equipment such as high powered vacuums and water pumps.
  • By removing the water, you substantially reduce drying times and minimise the risk of mould growth and secondary water damage.
  • The technician will record measurements of structural materials to determine when the property has reached its dry point.

Drying and Dehumidification

  • To create the best drying environment the technician will manipulate the temperature and relative humidity of the room.
  • The technician may install equipment to remove water retained by carpet and other building materials. Including;
  • Dehumidifiers – Remove humidity and create heat. (Its simple heat dries stuff).
  • Carpet blowers – Allow carpet to be floated and ultimately speed up evaporation.
  • Air scrubbers – Remove airborne contaminates from the air.
  • Throughout the drying period the technician will measure the water content of materials and may even readjust the drying environment until complete.

Cleaning and Sanitising

  • Once Flood Help has dried your property we will begin cleaning and sanitising.
  • This may include steam cleaning carpets, dry cleaning, cleaning upholstery, treating mould growth and cleaning other personal items.
  • Depending on the situation Antimicrobial and antibacterial treatments.
  • To remove unpleasant odours we may use deodorants, air scrubbers and fogging equipment.
